Strength of UK Motorhome Hire Market

The UK motorhome hire market is continuing to increase year on year (2011).

People everywhere are moving away from simple camping experiences to better accomodation with many discovering that a motorhome holiday is by far the best way to see the Country.

There are about 164,000 motorhomes in the UK (2008 figures issued by the National Caravan Council) and at peak times, there are not enough motorhomes and campers available for hire in the UK to satisfy the increasing demand.

Motorhome and Campervan Hire and Rental is increasing in the UK and this increase can continue through 2010 and 2012.

There is a continuing trend for new campsites in the UK, and there are now over 2,000 licenced holiday/touring parks, and they are a barometer for the strength in UK camping holidays.

In addition, in 2010 there were 11 million FEWER foreign trips taken by UK holidaymakers, with an increase in "staycations".

From statistics gained from enquiries and bookings with Motorhome City, in 2010 we could not satisfy the demand for motorhome hire and campervan rental in the UK and we could not accomodate enquiries for motorhome hire in the Peak months. To evidence this demand, look at the calendars on some of the motorhome webpages and you will quickly realise that most of them are fully booked throughout large parts of the year (please bear in mind that owners will not make their motorhomes and campers available for hire at times when they are using the vehicle for their own purposes, but you will soon form a good picture of bookings obtained for our owners).

In our 6 years of involvement in the UK motorhome hire market, we have seen a year on year increase in motorhome hire and all available sources of information show that this trend will continue to increase in the coming years.
