Motorhomes hire 2011
In November 2009,we had a holiday in Goa, India.
As we hire and book motorhomes, we kept an eye out for camping grounds and motorhomes on our travels. We saw one campervan, a really old VW camper on the roads, and that was it. The roads are extremly busy, and you take your life in your hands driving there, as they do not appear to have to many rules, apart from just two:
1. Keep to the left (ish) when driving, and
2. Keep yourself alive.
Even on dual carriageways, a pedal cycle will come peddaling towards you, down your carriageway, or people will be walking along the middle of the road. Taxi drivers will not even venture out if their horn isn’t working - they toot everyone. One toot to inform others they are there, two toots if they are passing them, three toots if they are more than 6″ from the roadside, and plenty tooting if you annoy them.
Goa is beautiful in the extreme, but the poverty is at times, in your face.
We drove scooters, motorbikes and Jeeps from Northern Goa, to Southern Goa from our hotel in Candolim. Its about an hours drive to Aranbol Beach (where the hippies hung out in the 70’s and 80’s) in the North, and similarly, about an hours drive to the main Southern Goa beach that is 38Km long, and has different names at different stretches of it’s beach.
All along this entire stretch of Goan coast, we never saw a single campsite or place where you could pitch a tent - with some basic facilities around you. Plenty of beaches and shacks where families live, but not even one signpost for a camping facility.
On our return, I checked the internet and found a couple of places where tents had been erected for holiday accomodation, but not really where you could stop for a night and pitch a tent, or leave a motorhome or camper. The internet addresses of anyone even considering this type of holiday to Goa can be found at:

We were not too bothered by the lack of camping facilities in Goa, as we were staying at a nice hotel in Candolim (Phoenix Park), right in the heart of northern Goa, beside Calangute and Baga (both noisier and busier places).
Nothing whatsoever to do with motorhome hire or campervan rental, I have posted a few videos on You Tube, that show some Goan beaches and features. These were posted in order to open accounts for the real deal, the home to all of the video content from members showing the inside and outside of their motorhomes and campervans.
I will post a blog on this nearer the time, but the plan is to show video content for all members motorhomes, to show all of the places/features and fittings that 6 pictures of your vehicle can’t.
